Working Of Printers

Printer is a common and useful device nowadays and most of us have used it for printing our documents but only few people know that how the printer works. There are two types of basic printers Impact and Non-impact. As the name showing the impact printers touches the paper while printing. Small pins are used to strike on a ribbon coated with ink to print the image on the paper. Some other impact printers work like a typewriter such as character printer. A series of bars or a ball with actual characters on them works for printing. These bars strike on the ink ribbon to print the character.

Only one character can be printed at a time. Another kind of printer (Daisy Wheel Printers) uses a plastic or metal wheel. These kinds of printers are useless for graphical user interface. After some time another printer came in existence called line printer in which a chain of pins prints a line.

This printer was much faster but not good in quality. Some efficient printers came in existence after sometime and a new technology was used in them. These are non-impact printers which never contact the paper while printing so these are much faster than impact printers. The inkjet printers introduced in decade of 1980 which is the most popular printer till now because it can print in colors.

The working of inkjet printers is very complicated and inkjet printer cartridges are used for printing. Tiny nozzles of its head place tiny droplets of ink on the paper for printing. These dots are such small that diameter of our hair is bigger than it. The laser printer is the latest printer and it is the fastest also because it is based on principal of static electricity which states that it can be built on an insulated object. Oppositely charged atoms of objects are attracted to each other and cling together.

Laser printer uses toner cartridges for printing. These are very costly but efficient printers. Laser printers use toner (dry ink), static electricity and heat to create an image on the paper. For printing any documents we simply give command for that. But when we give print command the information goes to the printer through RAM. Then the printer starts working.

While printing computer remains free and can perform other operations because the printer uses the part of memory only not the computer processor. We can give many print commands in a line printer takes next job after completing previous.

Know Your Color Laser Printer

Among the Printer family, a Laser Printeris a common type of computer printer that rapidly produces high quality text and graphics on a paper. Laser Printers uses a xerographic printing process but it is different from analog photocopiers. In this, image is produced by scanning directly through a laser beam across the printer's photoreceptor. If you think of choosing a printer there are two basic issues that you should keep in mind. Firstly decide whether you need color or mono printers.

While monochrome printers only use one laser scanner assembly but color printers often have two or more scanner assemblies. Secondly decide whether you prefer an Inkjet or a Laser Printer. The Laser and Inkjet debate is a bit more complex.

They both perform the same fundamental task but they do it in different ways. An Inkjet Printer applies liquid ink and a Laser uses a powder which is burnt onto the paper. The major benefit of the Color Laser Printer is its speed with which it can produce pages. Due to its powder filled toner cartridges, a Laser Printer can produce documents with far greater efficiency than an inkjet.

This is why they are often used in offices. Capacity is certainly one of the major benefits of a Laser Printer. Your standard Desktop Inkjet can only usually hold a few dozen sheets at one time. A Color Laser Printer can approximately handle anywhere between 150 and 2,500 sheets. This certainly reduces the time that is wasted for refilling your paper levels. If you think about the price then the initial purchase price of a Laser Printer may be higher than an inkjet. But later you need not invest loads of money as it has comparatively low cost for its toner cartridges and the number of prints each one can handle.

Color printers generally have a higher "cents-per-page" production cost than any other printers. A fastest color Laser Printers can print over 100 pages per minute that is 6000 pages per hour. These high-speed laser printers are used for mass mailings of personalized documents. The color element of a color Laser Printer is extremely important.

The quality of the prints depends on the quality of your device. They are of a very high standard, although some models may lose a little clarity when it comes to very fine details. However, when compared with a mono laser printer it has distinctive advantages. You can get more information about it from Internet. You can save money by going mono but ultimately this will restrict you in the future to produce color documents.

A printer, particularly a color Laser Printer, is a life time investment and should be treated as such when it comes to choosing the style and model you want or need. Some laser printers maintain a page count of the number of pages printed since last maintenance. On some Laser Printers, a reminder message appears informing the user. You can even compare a Laser Printer with other Printers from Internet.
